Simmons Tribute
A bust of legendary MU baseball coach John
“Hi” Simmons will be unveiled on May 16 at a Simmons
Field dedication event.
Members of the Varsity
M Association, an organization of former MU athletes that
is affiliated with the MU Alumni Association, are spearheading
the project.
Simmons coached Mizzou teams for 34 years.
He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973. His teams
won 11 conference titles and made six trips to the College World
Series, winning in 1954 and finishing second in 1952, 1958 and
1964.
