Researcher Developing Tumor
Identification System for Surgery

Veterinary resident Peter Gordon is testing a fluid that could help surgeons identify brain tumors during surgery. Currently, there is no procedure that allows surgeons to distinguish cancer cells from healthy brain tissue on the operating table. Read more

Take Home a Piece of the ’Berg
On Aug. 18, 2003, the Old Heidelberg Restaurant, a wildly popular campus hangout, burned to the ground. Heidelberg bricks, donated by owner Dick Walls to MU’s Hotel and Restaurant Management program, are now available as mementos. Read more

Seniors Share Mizzou Experiences
December 2003 marked the launch of the MU Alumni Association’s Senior Exit Survey. This online poll surveys the overall experience of graduating students and identifies the areas of interest these new alumni have in MUAA programs and services. Get survey results.

Admitted Students Can Access Freshman Journals
The MU Alumni Association’s popular Follow the Freshmen Online Journal Program is getting a number of new readers. The Office of Admissions has sent a link to the journals to all students admitted to MU. Discover what life is like for two MU freshmen.

Gear Up for Homecoming 2004
The student staff of the Homecoming Steering Committee just announced the theme and Grand Marshal for Homecoming, Oct. 23. The tradition of Homecoming began at MU, and the University continues to call alumni home with one of the largest Homecoming events in the nation. Get Homecoming information.

Alumni Are ‘Pictures of the Year’ Winners
The Missouri School of Journalism recently named the 61st annual Pictures of the Year International Contest winners. Judges viewed nearly 26,000 photographs and 2,500 newspaper and magazine pages submitted by more than 1,300 photographers and editors. Twenty-two MU alumni won awards. Read more

New Arena Is Named
When the $75 million basketball facility opens in October, it will be known as the Paige Sports Arena. Read more

Truman Is No. 1
Truman the Tiger took home top mascot honors in the recent National Cheerleading Association competition. Also bringing in high honors were the coed and all-female cheerleading squads. Read more

Defense on Display in Black and Gold Game
In the final spring scrimmage, the defense put on a show while tailbacks Damien Nash and Marcus Woods excited the crowd with electric moves. Read more

Wrestler Places Second at NCAA
Wrestling Championships

Ben Askren’s second-place finish paced the Tigers, who were honored with three All-Americans for the first time in the wrestling program’s history. Read more

Football Schedule Announced
The Tigers will open the season at home against Arkansas State and will conclude on Nov. 27 at Iowa State. Read more
