$10 Million Contract to Engineering
Professor Shubhra Gangopadhyay received a $10 million grant from
the Department of Defense to build tiny devices to improve U.S.

Veterinary
Surgeons Attempt to Save Tiger
From Previous Abuse
Privately owned, captive wild animals are often exploited like
Sulley, a tiger cub whose legs bowed outward from malnourishment.
Three College of Veterinary Medicine surgeons recently attempted
to correct one of Sulley's legs with a surgery performed for the
first time on a tiger. Unfortunately, their best efforts could
not overcome his previous abuse. Read

MU has launched an online catalog that provides detailed information
about more than 140,000 artifacts and documents from the Watergate

Professor Develops New Method
for Inspecting Aging Aircraft
The official cause of many plane crashes is material fatigue.
An MU engineering professor has developed a new method for identifying

The Mizzou Legislative Network of the
Mizzou Alumni Association awarded the Henry S. Geyer Award to
three distinguished recipients. Rep. Geyer of St. Louis was the
author of the Geyer Act of 1839 that established the University

Alumnus Named U.S. Professor of the Year
Kenneth Brashier, BJ '87, was recently
named one of four U.S. Professors of the Year. He was recognized
for translating his scholarly accomplishments into teaching excellence.

Wrestling Finishes
Third in the Nation
The Missouri wrestling team took
third place at the 2007 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships,
winning Mizzou's first NCAA Team Trophy in any sport since 1965.
Wrestler Ben Askren also won his second national championship.

Winning Season for
the Boys and Girls of Summer
Mizzou’s baseball
and softball
teams are playing to win. Currently the Missouri softball team
has a 35-19 overall record and is 11-2 in the Big 12, while baseball
has a 28-12 overall record and is 9-6 in the Big 12.

Senior golfer John Kelly recently played in front of thousands
fans at the legendary Masters Tournament in Augusta, Ga. Read
