The New Wildlife Refuge: Golf Courses?
There are more than 17,000 golf courses in the United States, and about 70 percent of that land isn't used for playing. MU biologists have found that these green spaces could include suitable habitat, or sanctuaries, for native wildlife. This story received international coverage via United Press International, MSNBC and media outlets in the United Kingdom and Germany. Read more

Professor Emeritus Arvarh Strickland changed history at MU, and now his legacy will be set in stone for the world to see. Read more

Exercise Alone Helps Diabetics
A new MU study has found that people with diabetes who increase their exercise had more significant improvements than people who focused on trying to change exercise, diet and medication at the same time. FOX TV and The Washington Times picked up the story along with Reuters Health, one of the nation's most prestigious medical Web sites. Read more

New Chair to Study U.S. Reading Problem
In America, 38 percent of fourth graders score below the basic reading proficiency level. Research shows that children who don't read well often have difficulty in other areas. A new position in the College of Education supported in part by the Chancellor's Fund for Excellence will study better ways to teach reading. Read more

Residence Halls Get a Facelift
This year, residents of Hatch and McDavid are living in the first Mizzou halls to undergo extensive renovation as part of the Residential Life Master Plan. See photos and get more details

Nurses Bring Health Care to Rural Areas
Accessible health care is a major concern for rural Missourians. To address this problem, nurse practitioners are opening their own health clinics with the help of business training through MU Extension. Read more

Roger Wehrli, BS Ed '70, has been selected to preside as Grand Marshal for the largest student-run homecoming in the nation. Mizzou's 2007 Homecoming celebration is set for October 20 when the Tigers take on Texas Tech. Read More

Dedication Set for Mizzou Legacy Walk
The Mizzou Legacy Walk outside the Reynolds Alumni Center will be dedicated the Friday afternoon of Homecoming Oct. 19. Discus Thrower Breaks Records
MU junior Shernelle Nicholls of Barbados smashed her country's and Mizzou's discus throw records in July, winning the bronze medal at the inaugural North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador. Read more
