New Wildlife Refuge: Golf Courses?
There
are more than 17,000 golf courses in the United States, and about
70 percent of that land isn't used for playing. MU biologists have
found that these green spaces could include suitable habitat, or
sanctuaries, for native wildlife. This story received international

In America, 38 percent
of fourth graders score below the basic reading proficiency level.
Research shows that children who don't read well often have difficulty
in other areas. A new position in the College of Education supported
in part by the Chancellor's Fund for Excellence will study better

MU junior Shernelle Nicholls
of Barbados smashed her country's and Mizzou's discus throw records
in July, winning the bronze medal at the inaugural North American,
Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Championships
