$2 Million Gift Supports Tigers
in the Wild and on the Court

The gift from Bruce Loewenberg, BSF ’61, includes $1 million for the Mizzou Tigers for Tigers mascot conservation program and $1 million to establish scholarships for men’s basketball.

President Floyd to Leave University System
University of Missouri System President Elson S. Floyd, who took office in January 2003, was introduced Dec. 13 in Pullman, Wash., as the next president of Washington State University. Read more

Institute Poised to Unlock Cancer Secrets
Located near MU’s Research Reactor, the new $10 million International Institute for Nano and Molecular Medicine will house scientists fighting cancer and other diseases. The reactor, which is celebrating 40 years of operation, helped attract the institute because of its cancer drugs and supply of radioisotopes for research. Read more

New Student Center on the Horizon
Officials broke ground in October for MU’s new student center and Brady Commons expansion. In 2005, Mizzou students voted to increase their activity fee to pay for half of the $60 million project. Read more

Enzyme Associated With Alzheimer’s Identified

You probably haven’t heard of the enzyme phospholipase A2, but MU researchers are hoping that it will become known as one of the key enzymes used in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Read more

Freshman Andy Oaker was listed in a recent edition of Track & Field News as one of only five High School All-Americans named for the 2006 season in the shot put event. USA Today also featured him as a High School All-American. Read more

Most recently, senior Dave McDonald won the coveted BMI award for his composition "Elegy."
