Rosemary Porter, dean of the Sinclair School of Nursing, performed the dedication ceremony at TigerPlace Dec. 17. When it opens in May, the model facility will enable residents to “age in place” even as their health care increases, a new concept that MU researchers hope will improve the nursing home industry. Slashing Fuel Consumption
Researcher Galen Suppes has determined that the development of a plug-in fuel cell hybrid vehicle could cut gasoline consumption in the U.S. by 50 percent. Read more

Scholarship Applications Due
The MU Alumni Association, together with its affiliated alumni chapters and organizations, will award more than $150,000 in scholarships to students attending MU in the fall. The application deadline is Feb. 2.

Alumni chapters across the nation are preparing for next month’s celebration of the founding of Mizzou. Find a celebration near you. All alumni are invited to an event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 on campus. Get party information.

Tigers Romp in St. Louis
Join alumni, friends, fans, University of Missouri System President Elson Floyd and Mizzou Head Football Coach Gary Pinkel at the first Tiger Romp Feb. 28 in St. Louis. Proceeds from the event, which includes dinner and dancing, will benefit the Tiger Scholarship Fund and the St. Louis MUAA chapter scholarship program.

Panda Express Is Alumni Brainchild
Panda Express founders Peggy and Andrew Cherng started small with one restaurant in Pasadena, Calif., and became huge, with the country’s largest chain of Chinese restaurants. Read more

Cooperation With NCAA Continues
MU and its athletic department continue to cooperate in the NCAA investigation of the men’s basketball program. A timetable for announcing the findings has not been set, but it is anticipated that the process will continue for the next several months.
