MU’s School of Medicine received $1.1 million from Marilyn
and Gerald Lee, MD '58, to help find a cure for sudden cardiac
death, one of the leading causes of death in Missouri and the

The U.S. Army, seeking to benefit from advances in nanotechnology
at Mizzou, has awarded College of Engineering Professor Shubhra
Gangopadhyah a $4.79 million contract to build devices that will
improve Army weapon systems.

Summer Program
Puts Teachers in the Classroom
MU hosted a summer academy for teachers to improve science scores,
raise student interest in science and engineering degrees and

Prize Winner to Mentor MU Student
The
New York Times announced in May that journalism graduate
student Casey Parks was chosen from 3,800 applicants
as the winner of the paper’s
“Win a Trip With Nick” essay competition. She will
accompany Pulitzer Prize winner and Times columnist Nicholas
Kristof on a trip to Africa this fall, write a blog about her
experiences for NYTimes.com and do a video report that will air
on MTV’s 24-hour college
channel (mtvU). Read
