Leading the Way in Rural Medicine
MU
is expanding the School of Medicine’s rural track program,
which recruits, trains and places physicians in areas of the state
with a doctor shortage. Above left, medical student Shannon Woods

MU’s rural medicine program third in the nation in the 2006

Screenings Combat Bone Loss
Data collected in northeast Missouri
shows that monthly osteoporosis screenings provided by the Missouri
mobile health van are working in the battle against bone loss,
a problem that affects 44 million Americans. Read

New Education Dean Appointed
Carolyn Herrington will replace Dean
Richard Andrews, who is retiring after leading the College of
Education since 1993. Herrington comes to MU from Florida State

Radiology Department at the
Forefront of Nanoscience
The radiology department recently
opened the Nanoparticle Production Core Facility, which is helping
researches develop new ways to treat cancer at the molecular level.
The World Gold Council is now directing inquiries it receives
about gold nanoparticles to MU as a result of a news article that
