Mizzou Breakthroughs Make Top 100
Science Stories in Discover magazine
The
discoveries of two Mizzou scientists made the top 100 science stories
of the year in the Jan. 2007 issue of Discover magazine.
Professor Randall Prather and his colleagues were recognized for
being the first to use biotechnology
to produce pigs capable of making omega-3 fatty acids, and anthropology
Professor Emeritus Bob Benfer was included for unearthing
the 4,000-year-old Andean temple shown above.


Eye Implants in Cats Could Help Humans
See
Kristina Narfstrom, an MU veterinary
ophthalmologist, has been working with a microchip implant to
help blind animals see. Her work made headlines in the Washington
Post, USA Today and MSNBC.com.

Research Institute are testing an alternative fuel technology
that may revolutionize the capacity of natural gas to power vehicles.

Kansas City Area Couple Gives MU $4.5 Million
Tom and Betty Scott recently
gave $2 million to the College of Veterinary Medicine and announced
a $2.5 million estate gift for the College of Business. Their
generosity has helped the For All We Call Mizzou campaign raise
$776. 9 million, about 77 percent of MU's $1 billion goal. Read

Grappling With Success
Tiger wrestlers took second place in
the Big 12 and are headed to nationals March 15-17. Eight grapplers
will compete in the 2007 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships,
which marks the most Missouri wrestlers to make a run at an NCAA
