East will receive 92,000 square feet of renovations and improvements.

Research Links Binge Eating to Specific
Brain Area
Assistant psychology professor Matthew
Will says that overeating is due to the release of opioids into
a region of the brain that monitors the intake of tasty foods.
This chemical release can increase the intake of fattening or
sugary foods by 300 percent. Read

After a breakthrough discovery involving
the structure of water, a team of University researchers developed
a medicine that can help the liver rid itself of excess copper,

Alumna Becomes CEO of
University of Iowa Hospitals
Donna Katen-Bahensky, BA ’80,
MS ’82, took an untraditional career path to the top of
the health services administration chain in Iowa. The Kansas City
native served in various positions at several university hospitals
before landing her position of director and CEO.
