Life Sciences Center Is Dedicated
Missouri
Gov. Bob Holden, U.S. Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond and
NASA Administrator Sean O’Keefe were on campus Sept. 17 to
help dedicate the new Life Sciences Center. The $60 million facility
features top-of-the-line lab equipment and open spaces designed
to unify students and faculty from multiple academic divisions.
Officials hope this collaboration will bring forth unprecedented

Student Enrollment Reaches Record Levels
First-day enrollment figures
broke records this year with freshman, undergraduate and total
enrollment higher than any other time in MU history. Minority

Intermittent Exercise Is More Effective
MU researchers studied the effect
exercise has on fat levels in the bloodstream, finding that short
spurts of exercise are more effective than continuous bouts.

According to the Centers for
Disease Control, antibiotic resistance, or the ability of bacteria
to resist drugs, has been called one of the world’s most
pressing health problems. MU researchers are studying ways to

Recent reports show shortages
are occurring in more than 200 health care professions. MU is
working with other universities on flexible programs that could
attract more students, as well as backing U.S. legislation for

New Online Journals Showcase Mizzou Experience
Four new student online journals (or
blogs) will allow readers to catch a slice of everyday life from
the perspective of two MU freshmen, a senior and a student studying
in Germany. The award-winning program posts weekly entries and

This year, the Mizzou grapplers will

and national awards for his work at Eva J’s, a campus dining
