On
Sept. 16 the MU family gathered to celebrate the success of the
For All We Call Mizzou campaign and to mark Chancellor Brady Deaton’s
first year leading the University. In addition to unveiling a donor
recognition wall in Jesse Hall and announcing two major gifts, officials
extended the campaign with a new goal of $1 billion, placing MU

of Medicine receives $2.3 million to fund a clinical simulation

Taking Journalism
to the Next Frontier
The School of Journalism recently broke ground on the Donald W.
Reynolds Journalism Institute, which will house a center for advanced
studies of journalism and its role in democratic societies. The
project is funded by a $31 million gift from the Donald W. Reynolds
Foundation, the largest private donation in MU history. See

MU Receives Grant
to Grow Businesses
A $2.5 million federal grant to build a business incubator will
help MU discoveries reach the marketplace sooner. Project organizers
estimate that the incubator will create more than 1,700 jobs and
attract private investments, industry ties and higher-paying jobs.

Discoveries Could Lead to
Better Heart Disease Treatment
Researchers at MU have identified a key factor that causes abnormal
cell growth, which leads to the thickening of artery walls. They
hope this discovery will lead to a better treatment for heart

Math Department Adds Up Research Grants
This summer, researchers in the
MU math department received five grants totaling about $1 million
from the National Science Foundation. The grants will further
strengthen the department and help foster a new generation of
mathematicians critical to the nation’s scientific infrastructure.

MU history professor Steven Watts recently
released a biography about Henry Ford. The book takes a look at
some of the lesser-known details of the industrial pioneer’s

Tiger Football Prepares for Conference
Play
On Oct. 1, the Tiger football squad opens conference play against
No. 2 Texas at 11 a.m. The game will be televised nationally on
ABC. From there, the schedule includes games against traditional
powers Nebraska, Kansas State, and more. Follow
the Tigers as they march toward bowl eligibility.
Women’s Soccer Team Kicks
Into Gear
An undefeated spring squad and 10 new freshmen have the MU women’s
soccer team ready to make some noise in the Big 12 conference.

player Kerensa Barr has been named assistant coach for the MU
women’s basketball team. Barr finished her four-year career
