Celebrate Mizzou!
On Sept. 16 the MU family gathered to celebrate the success of the For All We Call Mizzou campaign and to mark Chancellor Brady Deaton’s first year leading the University. In addition to unveiling a donor recognition wall in Jesse Hall and announcing two major gifts, officials extended the campaign with a new goal of $1 billion, placing MU in elite company. Read more

A School of Law alumnus donates $1 million to support the law library and the School of Medicine receives $2.3 million to fund a clinical simulation center.

Taking Journalism to the Next Frontier
The School of Journalism recently broke ground on the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute, which will house a center for advanced studies of journalism and its role in democratic societies. The project is funded by a $31 million gift from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, the largest private donation in MU history. MU Receives Grant to Grow Businesses
A $2.5 million federal grant to build a business incubator will help MU discoveries reach the marketplace sooner. Project organizers estimate that the incubator will create more than 1,700 jobs and attract private investments, industry ties and higher-paying jobs. Read more

Forget Sticks and Stones, Words Can Hurt
Everyone knows bacteria and germs can cause illnesses. Now, anthropology professor Mark Flinn has found that even words can negatively affect your health. His research was featured in the The Tampa Tribune, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Chicago Daily Herald, and more. Read more

Researchers’ Discoveries Could Lead to
Better Heart Disease Treatment

Researchers at MU have identified a key factor that causes abnormal cell growth, which leads to the thickening of artery walls. They hope this discovery will lead to a better treatment for heart disease. Read more

Math Department Adds Up Research Grants
This summer, researchers in the MU math department received five grants totaling about $1 million from the National Science Foundation. The grants will further strengthen the department and help foster a new generation of mathematicians critical to the nation’s scientific infrastructure. Read more

Biography Sheds New Light on
Auto Icon Henry Ford

MU history professor Steven Watts recently released a biography about Henry Ford. The book takes a look at some of the lesser-known details of the industrial pioneer’s life and his impact on the world. Reviews of the book were featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe and the Los Angeles Times. Read more

Professor Cultivates Showbiz Success
Theatre professor Jim Miller knows that succeeding in the entertainment industry requires a combination of talent, luck and business savvy. He’s helped his students succeed for more than two decades. Miller’s former students include television and film actors as well as Broadway stars.

Volleyball Team Ranked in Top 10
With victories over Iowa State, Texas A&M, Colorado and Kansas State to start the conference season, coaches Wayne and Susan Kreklow have the Tiger volleyball team rolling toward one of its most successful seasons ever. Follow the progress of the Women’s Volleyball team as the season unfolds.

Tiger Football Prepares for Conference Play
On Oct. 1, the Tiger football squad opens conference play against No. 2 Texas at 11 a.m. The game will be televised nationally on ABC. From there, the schedule includes games against traditional powers Nebraska, Kansas State, and more. Follow the Tigers as they march toward bowl eligibility.

Women’s Soccer Team Kicks Into Gear
An undefeated spring squad and 10 new freshmen have the MU women’s soccer team ready to make some noise in the Big 12 conference.

Barr Named Assistant Basketball Coach
Former MU women’s basketball player Kerensa Barr has been named assistant coach for the MU women’s basketball team. Barr finished her four-year career in 2003 as one of the best guards in Mizzou history. Read more

College World Series Teams

The Omaha World-Herald recently ranked MU 16th on its list of the best College World Series teams of all time. Read more
