Football Is No. 11 in
Preseason Poll
Excitement abounds in the state of Missouri
over the possibilities for the Mizzou Tiger football team in
2004, and that excitement is shared by many national prognosticators. Athlon
Sports, which has released its preseason picks in its June
issue, ranks the Tigers 11th in the magazine’s preseason
Top 25.
Mizzou, coming off an 8-5 season a year ago,
is picked to win the Big 12 North Division title, according to
the magazine. Several Tiger players are mentioned as All-Big
12 performers, with QB Brad
Smith, DL C.J.
Mosley, DL Brian
Smith and LB James
Kinney all being named preseason Second-Team All-Big
12. Senior OL Joe
Gianino is named preseason Third-Team All-Big 12.
Missouri’s linebackers are ranked No.
1 in the Big 12 and No. 9 in the nation, according to the magazine.
Missouri’s quarterbacks and defensive line are ranked No.
2 in the Big 12. The Big 12 edition magazine cover features Brad
Smith.
