Alumni Accolades

Gov. Bob Holden recently created the Commission on the Future of Higher Education to make recommendations on how Missouri can strengthen the link between higher education and economic growth in the state.

“I am firmly convinced that the most important step our state can take to improve the overall and long-term economy is to increase the number of Missourians attending college,” Holden said. “The knowledge-based economy of our future relies on a highly educated work force.”

In addition, Holden announced that Missouri has been chosen as the first state in a national effort, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts, to help states improve higher education policies. The National Collaborative for Postsecondary Education Policy will work closely with, and provide funding for, the new commission.
