McCubbin
Tapped to
Lead Association
By Jeremy Diener
Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni
Relations David Housh appointed Todd McCubbin executive director
of the MU Alumni Association
and associate vice chancellor for alumni relations, effective
immediately. McCubbin replaces J. Todd Coleman, who accepted a
position with Purdue University in Indiana.
“I have offered the position
to Todd McCubbin, and he has accepted,” Housh said. “I
am very excited about his leadership and our future efforts to
develop even stronger alumni support for MU’s mission and
role as Missouri’s flagship university.”
As executive director and associate vice
chancellor, McCubbin will direct the operational and financial
activities of the alumni association. He is responsible for increasing
association membership, managing the budget and the relationship
with the association’s governing board and its committees,
overseeing alumni and student programming and events, managing
relationships with divisional and affinity alumni organizations,
and representing the association on campus. He also will manage
the integration of the association’s activities with other
campus advancement efforts. He has served in various positions
within the alumni association since joining MU in 1995, most recently
as interim executive director.
“Being offered the job was a
humbling experience,” McCubbin said. “I’ve worked
for the association for nine years, and I know what a fantastic
job this truly is. I look forward to continuing the great relationships
I’ve built with our outstanding staff, volunteers and supporters,
and working to support a world-class University.”
McCubbin joined the staff of MUAA as the
coordinator of alumni relations in 1995. In 1996 he was named
the assistant director of alumni relations and became director
of marketing in 1997. He was appointed assistant executive director
of the association in 1999.
McCubbin received his bachelor’s degree
in journalism from Truman State University in 1993 and a master’s
degree in education from MU in 1995. He is a member of the Alternate
Income Committee with the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and has
served as a program chair and sponsorship chair of the Council
for Advancement and Support of Education’s
District VI Conference. He was selected as Forman Fellow for the
Council of Alumni Association Executives in 2000.
“Members of the MU Alumni Association
are thrilled with the prospect that Todd McCubbin will be serving
as its permanent executive director,” said Doug Crews, president
of the MUAA. “He’s a seasoned veteran, and he’s
led our staff with distinction since the departure of our previous
executive director in July. Our alumni members look forward to
working with Todd to continue building on MUAA’s award-winning
programs that serve so well our great University, its graduates
and friends.”
